Scene of the fire incident
A FIRE incident at Irri Community, Isoko South Local Council of Delta State has rendered not fewer than 25 people homeless while properties worth millions of naira were razed by the inferno.
Though no life was lost to the fire outbreak but a tailor and her children who were trapped in their apartment managed to escape from the blaze which completely brought down the big building.
The ill-fated edifice, located opposite Omode Primary School, was said to have caught fire after it was ignited by a faulty electrical appliance in one of the apartments.
A bicycle spare parts shop, a generator mechanic store, a sewing institute and 11 rooms were among properties consumed by the inferno.
It was learned that it took fire fighters and sympathisers over three hours to put out the fire.
The Chairman of Irri Community Development Committee, Goddy Igorigo, described the incident as shocking and devastating.
