Newspaper distributors petition Buhari over debt owed by agencies

DISTRIBUTORS of newspapers and magazines, under the aegis of Abuja Newspapers Distributors Association (ANDA), have cried out to President Muhammadu Buhari to come to their aid as prolonged indebtedness being owed by government ministries, agencies and parastatals amounting to N120 million is crippling their business and rendering them jobless.

The ANDA made the appeal when publishers of newspapers and magazines invaded their secretariat to demand for monies owed them by the distributors.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday and made available to The Guardian, President of the association, Mr. Joshua Orogun,
said: “Some of my members are being owed up to 12 months; these are verified claims. This issue is affecting our business so much as we cannot pay the publishers as at when due, which is adversely affecting them too.

“We are using this opportunity to appeal to our dear President Muhammadu Buhari to save our business so that we won’t be sent into the already saturated Labour market.”
